October has arrived bringing cooler temperatures in the mornings and evenings, a beautiful change in the colours of the town, fresh air and lots of activities.
Firstly, a little Czech culture to you, October in Czech language is Říjen, pronouncing /ˈr̝iːjɛn/ :)
Always important to check the COVID-19 last updates, and you can do so on the official website which is updated daily: https://www.mvcr.cz/mvcren/article/coronavirus-information-of-moi.aspx
Then, considering you have your covid pass or negative test in your pocket, be sure you can have a great time in Prague. The city is filled with happy people again, confidence is growing and events both indoors and outdoors are back on the list.
What is the weather like in October?
With average lows around 8°C in the mornings and around 14℃ in the afternoon, Prague holds mostly dry days over the month. The autumn season is well underway with the coming of October. Temperatures continue to drop to values favoring the freshness of the atmosphere. On the other hand, the bad weather diminishes considerably and leaves more room for the sun and its beneficial rays. The climate throughout October in Prague remains acceptable and dressing well is enough to protect from the cold.
Pack heavier clothes for the evenings, but remember that every place you visit will be warm and cosy, therefore, the warmer pieces should be easy to take off. Scarfs are a must as the wind picks up and don’t forget your favourite comfortable shoes.
Events highlights:
The main event held by the City of Prague in October is undoubtedly the Signal Festival, between 14th - 17th of October, (find more about it in here) a show of lights and lasers spread around three locations in Prague.
Due to the corona virus restrictions, the program at the Planetarium has a very strict procedure and you must reserve a date & time to attend.
“Signal Festival grew from a show of video mapping and light design into a respected festival of digital art and art /tech cultural events, which today is one of the largest in the Czech Republic. You will be able to see the original site – specific installations scattered in well – known and lesser – known corners of Prague, popular video mappings on historical buildings, interactive installations and gallery installations.”
